Hydrangea Blaumeise
Hydrangea macrophylla 'Blaumeise'
A charming lacecap variety with smaller mid-blue flowers, aptly named after the beautiful European bird, the Blue Tit. They smother the bush from late in spring and through summer. It's an ideal shrub border specimen, with a dense and tight foliage habit - spectacular in "full flight".
Feature:

Brilliant blue flowers, compact habit.

Uses: Patios, gardens, borders and under-plantings. Great for picking - it can be used both fresh and for drying; use in floral art.
Position: Shaded and well-drained. Will handle summer dry spells, though flowers can be damaged if too dry for too long.
Care: Prune to about half size in autumn after leaf drop, and mulch to conserve moisture over summer. Blue colouration is encouraged with an autumn application of acid fertiliser.
